Exercise your accessories

Adding unique accessories to any room in your home can make it more special, more glam and take any room to the next level of chic.

Here are some cool do-dads to add to your rooms:

Greek key throw– how pretty would this look in my apt?!

Book on Allegra Hicks. We finally invested in some cool coffee table books. Makes me just feel more chic seeing their titles every day.

Wellie umbrella holder– how cute is this?!

Skull bowl– I have a thing for skulls and antlers. Maybe b/c my dad is a hunter. Who knows, but this is cool.

Pipe match holder– this was sold out for a long time, nab it before it sells out again!

Horn vase -I have this and love this!

Spotted jewelry tray– definitely needed for my new “eloise-only” bathroom

Skull on a stand- told you i love skulls:

Blue Bargello Pillow (by Trina Turk)- such fun colors:

Lucite Tray– with monogram!

Orange lacquer box– comes in a few sizes to hold all that junk that inevitably lands on our entry tables or coffee tables.

Cute pink matches– to go in your JA holder!

Leather handle tray– adds a manly touch to a room:

Gold, glam tray– would look great on an ottoman with candles etc on it.

Mr and Mrs Towels- what a cute gift for engaged or newly married friends

Pop of pink ikat pillow:

Be Happy tray– for keys, so as you leave in the morning and grab them…this is your parting sentiment from your home 🙂

Wooden racket– how cute would this be in a boy’s room- hang a few of these over the bed even!

Hotel key hooks– cool in a kitchen:

White suitcases– how cute are these for storage

xxoxo Happy Weekend y’all!

Apartment Redesign

Oh the joys of moving. Yeah right- we’re living amongst boxes and out of suitcases as we pack up 5 years of joy in our walk-up. Time to move on though- our beautiful, sleek, grown up digs are just 10 blocks from what we’ve called home. It’ll be bittersweet to leave though, wouldn’t’ be surprised if I even cry. I’ll be sure to blame the hormones.

Anyway, of course we parlayed the move into a new design project. Rethinking paint colors and accent colors and finally what to do with the nursery!  Been busy with this lately and wanted to finally share what’s going to happen.

Master BR:

Going with a charcoal grey wall a la Jenna Lyons’ Brooklyn home.

We own a greyish beige bed with nailheads- which I love and we’re doing a lighter gray (lighter than this color) duvet

with these sheets:

these shams

and these nightstands

the dresser i want is this one:

now just to find a light grey rug that will work.  hmmmm.

Living Room!

This gray is actually much lighter- it’s a very soft gray. Lovely and much lighter than what we’ve had in our living room

our new couch!!

and chair and a half!

which will sit across our cute white chairs, and rug, coffee table and yellow lamp.  (as seen in current apt photo):

Here’s a shot of our pillows:

done in Thom Filicia’s fabric, which I’m doing curtains in:

Dining Room is still a work in progress, but here is the table i’m leaning towards. You can’t see it but it’s rubbed gray (so not as brown as it appears) and comes with a leaf to extend this baby.

Dining Chairs I change my mind on all the time. I want upholstered but how feasible is that with a baby?!  So I think I’ll end up with the matching ones from C&B.

Alas, the baby room. Here are my inspiration photos. Since we’re not finding out the gender, we’re going to do all navy and white and then get accents in orange for a boy or hot pink for a girl.   For the navy, we’re painting in Benjamin Moore’s “Old Navy."  Now this is fun!

I’ll send an update as this progresses!

Apparatus

Major design crush on this rainy day. This firm- Apparatus– are NYC and LA based. Built from vintage lighting components, these guys are as close to what I’d design myself as I’ve ever seen. Oh to be a lighting designer for a living……

Minty Fresh

As spring starts to slowly emerge here in NYC, I am craving brighter and lighter colors. One shade that’s popping up everywhere is mint green. Typically, I’m more drawn to pinks and blues in spring weather, but this lovely color is such a nice change of pace. I’m also loving it in interiors and especially exteriors like doors. Time for inspiration and how to get the look…

Gaining Entry

Our interior inspiration today will be great entryways. For my NYC friends, only some of us are lucky enough to have different room definitions in our pads, but a girl can dream.  Here are some ideas on how to WOW people when they enter your home!

Interesting and Inspired Office Spaces

Because I constantly want to spend money decorating a fictional space in my apartment (our desk is in our bedroom and also doubles as a vanity), I thought I’d post lovely office spaces for those of you who can have an office at home.  Maybe I’ll just make my office at work this cool one day.

ps… i’m loving all of the ghost chairs!
