Guest Post: The Kelseys’ Winter Picks

My skin is a mess during the winter.  My eyes run my makeup off by the time I get to the subway, my skin is cracked and it just ain’t pretty. So I’ve enlisted the genius that are the Kelsey sisters to help me me out. Here are their amazing beauty tips for the winter season (and awesome finishing touches) from Elizabeth Kelsey and Barbara (Kelsey) Ploshay. These sisters who hail from Ohio and know all about protecting our skin from frigid temps. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!!

I work in the hospitality industry and travel non-stop with little time for shopping (even online).  I rely heavily on my sister, Barbara Kelsey Ploshay, who works in the fashion industry, to be my stylist and personal shopper extraordinaire.  As the holidays are upon us and winter is setting in, we thought it would be fun to share some fun skin care and cosmetic thought sparkers.

 Winter dryness tips from Barbara:

Tis the season for holiday parties and holiday shopping…break out the opaque tights, high-heeled boots, and dry skin.  Every year as the weather gets colder, my skin looses moisture and I have to fight to keep my skin well hydrated.  Here are my winter must haves to sooth my dry skin.

Chanel Creamy Cleansing Lotion

Kiehl’s Since 1851 Ultra Facial Toner

Chanel Hydramaz Active Moisture Boost

Chanel Sublimage Eye Essential

La Mer The Hand Treatment

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eye Shadow

Need oil free?  Some ideas from Elizabeth…

As my 30s hit, my skin changed, and suddenly I was in need of a completely oil free daily routine.  So, out with the old and in with the new. But while I’m restrained with what I put on my face every day, I can’t resist a little sparkle and fun when I’m putting on my makeup for a Saturday night out.

Peter Thomas Roth Beta Hydroxy Acid Wash (also Women’s Weekly’s Best Buy 2010)

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer (in 9 shades!)

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, love the extra shimmer on my cheekbones

Benefit Brow Zings, I never leave home without filling in my eyebrows…

Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil Set – my favorite is the Black Gold which is a softer, shimmery, option to your typical black eye liner

Once you’re feeling beautiful and made up for the evening, here are some finishing touches:
